چکیده

KATZ, R. J. AND K. ROTH. Tail pim'h induced stress-arousalfiwilitates brain stimulation reward. PHYSIOL. BEHAV. 22(1) 193-194, 1979.--Adult male Sprague Dawley rats with chronic access to self stimulation were sub~ctcd to handling, tail pinch, or left undisturbed. Tail pinch increased responding for positive reinforcement while the other conditions did not. The stress related properties of tail pinch may therefore facilitate responding in the present and other situations.

Tail pinch induces fos immunoreactivity within several regions of the male rat brain: effects of age.

Brief, intermittent stressors, such as low-level foot shock or tail pinch, induce a general excitement and autonomic arousal in rats that increases their sensitivity to external incentives. Such stimulation can facilitate a variety of behaviors, including feeding, aggression, sexual activity, parental behavior, and drug taking if the appropriate stimuli exist in the environment. However, the ab...

Tail pinch facilitation of self-stimulation in the rat--dependence upon dopamine and independence of opiates.

We have previously demonstrated that adult male Sprague-Dawley rats which are chronically maintained upon a schedule of intracranial reward (ICS) show elevated rates of response after a mild tail pinch. Both dopamine and opiates have been implicated in the mediation of other stress induced behavioral alterations, and may therefore also possibly be involved in the ICS effect. The present report ...

مطالعه نقش انسولین بر شاخصهای رفتاری و نورواندوکرینی استرس با استفاده از روش میکرودیالیز مغز در موش سفید

The present investigation aimed to study the role of insulin on stress-induced behavioural responses. Male albino-Weitar rats (200-300 g) were implanted with microdialysis probes in the lateral ventricle under chloral hydrate (500 mg/kg i.p.) anaesthesia. 12 hours after implantation animals were placed in a bowl. The implanted animals were perfused at 2 pi/min with ringer solution. 5 min tail p...

Physiological stimulation increases nonoxidative glucose metabolism in the brain of the freely moving rat.

The effects of mild stress on nonoxidative glucose metabolism were studied in the brain of the freely moving rat. Extracellular lactate levels in the hippocampus and striatum were monitored at 2.5-min intervals with microdialysis coupled with an enzyme-based flow injection analysis system. Ten minutes of restraint stress led to a 235% increase in extracellular lactate levels in the striatum. A ...

Posterodorsal Medial Amygdala Mediates Tail‐Pinch Induced Food Intake in Female Rats

Comfort eating during periods of stress is a common phenomenon observed in both animals and humans. However, the underlying mechanisms of stress-induced food intake remain elusive. The amygdala plays a central role in higher-order emotional processing and the posterodorsal subnucleus of the medial amygdala (MePD), in particular, is involved in food intake. Extra-hypothalamic corticotrophin-rele...
